BATGIRL
Joss Whedon said that he was currently wrapping up production on Justice League, filling in for Zack Snyder since earlier this year, would begin production on BATGIRL immediately afterward. Set to star shooting in 2018, Geoff Johns told IGN: “We are doing ‘Batgirl’ with Joss Whedon, it’s gonna be super exciting and he’s gonna start that next year. That’s just the start. We want to explore the Batman universe in a big new way.” This also confirms that the film will be part of the DC Extended Universe of films.
WONDER WOMAN 2
DC Confirmed that a sequel to Wonder Woman is happening. Johns is also working on the script with input from Patty Jenkins. Fan reaction was unanimous:
FLASHPOINT
Sneaking in under the wire, the quietly monumental announcement that The Flash film will be called FLASHPOINT came in a montage of confirmed titles. As you may recall, the Flashpoint storyline played a huge part of The Flash: Season 3. The comic book series effectively rebooted the DCU with a new continuity. Could they be doing the same already at Warner? If so, that escalated quickly!
THE BATMAN
Just prior to SDCC, a rumour started that indicated Warner were looking to recast Ben Affleck for THE BATMAN solo film from Matt Reeves. At SDCC, Affleck seemed to put fan minds at ease.
“Let me be clear,” says Affleck (via SuperHeroHype). “Batman is the greatest fucking part in the world. I am thrilled to do it.” The source adds that Affleck was willing to play “an ape in the background for Matt Reeves,” so it seems that The Batfleck will be around for some time to come yet.
