No. 1 Ladies Detective AgencyTo celebrate the recent launch of the DVD Bits Blog, we have a series of prizes to give away courtesy of Roadshow Entertainment. First up, we have a copy of The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency – Complete First Season. This BBC/HBO co-production has just been released on DVD in Australia.

Precious Ramotswe (Grammy award winning singer Jill Scott) inherits a herd of cattle, which she decides to sell to fund the opening of her very own detective agency. So she leases the old Gabarone post office, hires hyper-efficient secretary Grace Makutsi (Anika Noni Rose, Dreamgirls), and gets down to business. With sassy hairdresser BK (Desmond Dube, Hotel Rwanda) and smitten mechanic JLB Matekoni (Lucian Msamati) cheering her on, she begins building her agency, dispensing endless cups of tea, and tackling tricky cases involving missing persons, duplicitous daddies, dangerous dentists, and unfaithful spouses. The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency is a fresh take on the small-town mystery series.

The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency is the first major film/TV project to be shot entirely on location in Botswana. The pilot episode was the last film directed by Anthony Minghella (The English Patient) prior to his death, who also co-wrote the pilot script with Richard Curtis.
