A trailer has been released for Martin Scorsese’s documentary on the life and times of the late George Harrison. The examination of the “quiet one” of The Beatles, George Harrison: Living in the Material World, will look at his life not only as a musician, but as a spiritualist, a philanthropist and a producer of films.
Harrison is best known for his time in The Beatles, and his hits “Here Comes The Sun” and “Something”. Harrison’s successful solo career began with the triple-LP All Things Must Pass, which resulted in the hit single “My Sweet Lord”. Harrison’s Hand Made Films are also responsible for the films Withnail and I, Time Bandits and of course, Monty Python’s The Life of Brian.
The documentary will interview Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, George Martin, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, Phil Spector, Ringo Starr, Jackie Stewart and others, coupled with archival footage of the man himself.
George Harrison: Living in the Material World will screen on HBO in two parts on 5 and 6 October 2011. No Australian screening dates have been announced.
