ET Online has exclusively launched the first trailer for the adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s The Rum Diary, starring Johnny Depp.
It follows the story of journalist Paul Kemp (Depp) who kinds himself down on his luck and working for a newspaper in the Caribbean.
Depp, who also serves as a producer on the film, has had a long-standing association with Hunter S. Thompson. He starred as the man himself in Terry Gilliam’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and narrated the 2008 documentary Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.
The film is directed by Bruce Robinson of Withnail & I fame.
I’m very anxious to see Depp embody the good doctor again! Thompson influenced the past few generations with his invention of Gonzo Journalism. His work and antics will live on to influence even more generations to come. I paid tribute to Hunter S Thompson and his work with my portrait and article on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-memoriam-hunter-s-thompson.html
