We took a look at this a few months back now, and the 3D is magnificent. It is amazing how much added depth can be gleaned from a film that is now frighteningly 17 years old. The award-winning Tim Rice/Elton John soundtrack, not to mention the voice of James Earl Jones, sounds similarly impressive in a theatre set-up. If you are seeing this for the first time, or want to recapture the magic for the first time in a generation, you must see this in cinemas.
The Lion King is released in 3D for a limited engagement on 22 September 2011 across Australia from Disney. It will then get a new release on DVD and debut on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on 12 October 2011.
