Yesterday, The Mercury reported that actor Willem Dafoe will be in the Apple Isle for the red carpet premiere of Australia’s The Hunter on 28 September 2011. We can now confirm that he will be appearing in other cities as well.
Palace Cinemas will stage a special event screening at the Palace Centro in Brisbane on 29 September and Palace Verona in Sydney on 30 September where Dafoe will introduce the film to audiences. All ticket holders will also receive a Madman gift bag including The Hunter torch, poster and an Animal Kingdom DVD. The Brisbane screening will also be followed by a Q & A, so fans will get a chance to hear the master actor talk about his craft.
The Hunter is based on a novel by Julia Leigh, writer and director of the recent Sleeping Beauty, and stars Willem Dafoe (Spider-man, The English Patient, Platoon), Frances O’Connor (Blessed, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Mansfield Park) and Sam Neill (The Dish, Jurassic Park, The Piano).
The film, following the story of a mercenary sent from Europe to the Tasmanian wilderness, comes from the producers of Animal Kingdom, one of the most locally awarded films in Australian history. Madman Managing Director added Recent Australian films distributed by Madman such as Animal Kingdom and Snowtown also enjoyed a significant major film festival springboard that has led to remarkable local success and we anticipate the same for The Hunter.”
I wish I could attend the QLD Q&A… strange they aren’t providing one for the NSW screening (that’s the one I’ll be going to see). Anyone feel like bootlegging the QLD Q&A? 😛
I think it was because they did a session at the Apple Store in Sydney. The Reel Bits does not endorse bootlegging. (P.S. Do it!)
