At a cermony hosted yesterday by actors Susie Porter, Matilda Brown and Matt Day, the nominees were announced for Australia’s 2011 Jameson IF Awards, to be held on the 16th November at Sydney’s Luna Park.
The ‘little Aussie film that could’ Red Dog, which has earned $18.7 million at the Australian box office to date, leads the pack with a whopping 9 nominations, including Best Feature Film, Best Director for Kriv Stenders and nods for actors Josh Lucas and Rachael Taylor. This has been a crowd favourite, with a massive push from Roadshow behind it, so it will be no shock if it sweeps the pools this year.
The other big contender is Oranges and Sunshine with 8 nominations, also including Best Feature Film and unsurprisingly, acting recognition for David Wenham and Emily Watson.
