It’s double the terror, and double the Ds. The sequel to the surprise horror-comedy hit Piranha 3D, the perfectly titled Piranha 3DD, has been debuted at the 2011 Spike Awards. Using the same formula that earned the B-grade flick over $80 million dollars at the box-office, the winning combination of boobs and blood, there is little about the sequel that looks like it will alter this brilliant low-concept.
Directed by John Gulager (the Feast series) from a screenplay by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV through VI), it features returning cast members Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames. Those wondering “how” after the events of the first film, really need to see what has become of him in this latest installment. All we are going to say it that it has shades of Robert Rodriguez.
Piranha 3DD will be released in Australia on 2 February 2012 from Roadshow Films.
