The 15th Japanese Film Festival came to close in Sydney tonight with an Australian premiere screening of Life Back Then. Before the film, we were given a sneak preview at one of the films that will be on the 16th Japanese Film Festival Program in 2012. Always: Sunset on Third Street 3, due out early next year in Japan, will make its Australian debut at our favourite film festival.
Also known as Always: Sunset on Third Street ’64, the third film in the popular series follows 2007’s Always: Sunset on Third Street 2. The original Always: Sunset on Third Street opened the 10th Japanese Film Festival back in 2006.
Meanwhile, the 15th Japanese Film Festival continues on in Melbourne from 29 November 2011 through 6 December. In addition to the wonderful Sydney program, it will also feature a Kenji Misumi retrospective including Destiny’s Son, The Homely Sister, Ken, Yotsuya Ghost Story and On the Road Forever.
Always: Sunset on Third Street 3 will be released in Japan on 21 January 2012. Here a look at the trailer:
