Inaugural AACTA Award nominations revealed

AACTAAustralia gets swept up in the awards season with The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) announcing all nominees for the inaugural Samsung AACTA Awards today. To be held in January 2012, this marks the start of Round 2 voting for AACTA members in the lead-up to the award ceremony.

The nominations are spread across 14 Feature Films (out of a possible 21), 14 Documentaries, four Short Animations, six Short Fiction Films and 23 Television Productions. The Eye of the Storm, The Hunter, Mad Bastards, Oranges and Sunshine, RED DOG and Snowtown lead the pack as the nominees for Best Film.

The Hunter has a whopping 13 nominations, followed The Eye of the Storm has 12 nominations including two each for Lead and Supporting Actress, Snowtown with 10, crowd favourite RED DOG received 8, Oranges and Sunshine got 7 and  4 went to Mad Bastards.
