Following his win at the Golden Globe Awards yesterday, Luther star Idris Elba confirmed with MTV that he would be donning the helmet once again with Thor 2 and reprising his role as the guardian of the Bifrost.
When asked about his future super heroics, Elba responded with “Thor 2 for sure… We’re going at it again.” He also confirmed that he hasn’t yet been approached for a cameo in The Avengers.
Elba won his award yesterday for Best Performance By An Actor In A Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television for his leading performance in Luther. The British actor gained a cult following on HBO’s The Wire as Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell, and has made a steady stream of appearances on both sides of the pond. He will next be seen in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and is set for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
Thor 2 is set to begin filming in London this summer. Jaimie Alexander has also confirmed she will be rejoining the cast.
Thor 2 is due to hit cinemas on 15 November 2013 from Disney.
