Deadline reports that Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton will helm and rewrite a live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ Lobo. The ever-present Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman will produce the film for Warner Bros.
The foul-mouthed character of Lobo is an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Originally introduced in the 1980s, the character has often remained in limbo but enjoyed a massive popularity during the 1990s, when he would frequently appear in Superman books and was crafted as an anti-hero and parody of The Punisher and Wolverine archetypes.
Lobo has previously appeared in a number of DC animated shows, and originally had his own web series.
There is no word to casting or when production will commence.
