Deadline reports that ubiquitous actress Jessica Chastain, who seemingly appeared in every film of 2011, is up for the role of a sexy scientist in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 for Marvel Studios.
The source reports that her role will be an intellectual equal to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), and given that we know the film is to be based on Warren Ellis’ Extremis, we can extrapolate that Chastain will most likely play the part of Dr. Maya Hansen, should she accept the part. As an instrumental character to the story, Chastain would be a real coup for Marvel.
She would join Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson and possibly Sir Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce in various roles.
Iron Man 3 being scheduled for 3 May 2013. Production is expected to take place in May 2012 in North Carolina and begin location filming in China in summer 2012.
