Jessica Chastain, previously rumoured to be up for a role in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, has let fans know via her Facebook page that she will not be appearing in the next chapter of the Iron Man saga.
Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx
The original report suggested that Chastain would have been up for the role of Dr. Maya Hansen in the adaptation of Warren Ellis’ Extremis.
Iron Man 3 will star Rober Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson and possibly Sir Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce in various roles.
Iron Man 3 being scheduled for 3 May 2013. Production is expected to take place in May 2012 in North Carolina and begin location filming in China in summer 2012.
