Heat Vision reports that Scott Z. Burns has been sourced by Fox to work on the sequel to their 2011 smash Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Following the dramatic ending of the first film, in which apes developed intelligence and humans began the path that presumably leads to their own demise, the article promises that “the new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers”.
Andy Serkis, who played ape Caesar via motion capture technology will return, as will director Rupert Wyatt. Writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa had also penned a draft.
Burns has also previously worked on The Informant! for the Coen Brothers, and The Bourne Ultimatum and more recently, Contagion for Steven Soderbergh. His next project released will be The Bitter Pill, also with Soderbergh.
