Variety reports that James Badge Dale has joined the growing cast of Iron Man 3, as it nears the start of production within the next few weeks.
According to the source, he will play Eric Savin. In the Marvel comics, the mysterious Savin was put in charge of U.S. Army’s Project: Ultra-Tech. After running over a landmine, he woke up to find himself transformed into the cyborg known as Coldblood-7, and later simply Coldblood.
From what we know about the third Iron Man film, written and directed by Shane Black, it will be partially based on Warren Ellis’ comic book arc Extremis.
Badge Dale most recently appeared in The Grey and Shame, and will soon be seen in Flight, World War Z and The Lone Ranger.
Iron Man 3 will also star Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and possibly Sir Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce in various roles.
Iron Man 3 being scheduled for 3 May 2013. Production is expected to take place in North Carolina within the next few weeks and begin location filming in China in summer 2012. Jon Favreau recently reported he was “very involved” in the production.
