This has been floating around for a few days now, so excuse us as we play catch-up. However, some things need to be highlighted, and a Steven Spielberg classic coming to Blu-ray is one of those things.
Released for the 30th Anniversary of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, the trailer promises a digitally remastered version with 7.1 surround sound and “hours of bonus features”. More importantly, if Spielberg’s previous interviews are anything to go by, the digitally replaced guns will return for this edition.
The Blu-ray will be released as a combo-pack in “Fall 2012”, which we think translates as somewhere September and November. We are guess mid-October, as is the nature of these things. Let’s not forget that Jaws is also scheduled for an 14 August release, and the complete Indiana Jones saga is also due for a Fall 2012 release. It is the time of Spielberg!
