Michael Haneke has always been essential viewing, whether he is trying to shock or simply touch. His latest film Amour was the winner of the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, and now an English-subtitled trailer has been released (via Next Projection).
Georges and Anne are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter, who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family. One day, Anne has an attack. The couple’s bond of love is severely tested.
Amour is playing at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2012. It is being distributed by Transmission in Australia.
