Some major details have spilled out from the set of Iron Man 3, some of which may be considered major spoilers. If you wish to avoid all plot details about the upcoming film you should probably stop reading now.
SuperHeroHype (via ComingSoon) confirms that the Iron Patriot armour, first seen in 2009’s Dark Avengers #1 in the Marvel Comics, will make an appearance in the film, and they have the on-set photos to prove it. In the comics, the suit of armour was worn by Spider-man foe Norman Osbourne, representing the then-deceased Captain America following the events of the Secret Invasion storyline. With Spider-man movie rights all tied up with Sony, the question of who will wear the armour could remain a mystery. Unless you scroll down and look at the text about the second photo below.
Latino Review, who seem to have some insiders, have confirmed that (here’s the major spoilers part) Sir Ben Kingsley will in fact be playing the Mandarin, but he will not be the major antagonist. Rather, in keeping with the Iron Man: Extremis storyline, that will be Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), and Mandarin will be more of a shadowy figure. With news that Ashley Hamilton is playing Firepower, and no denial on William Sadler joining the cast, this could be the biggest robot smack-down since…Transformers: Dark of the Moon?
Iron Man 3 is scheduled for 3 May 2013, and is currently filming.
We warned you about spoilers, didn’t we? The actor in the suit is James Badge Dale, who had been previously reported to be joining the cast as the cyborg character Coldblood-7. Could this Iron Patriot be an amalgam of the two?
