Deadline has exclusively revealed that Rise of the Planet of the Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver will pen the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise.
It has been 11 years since the last chapter in the saga, and Jurassic Park 4 will join a franchise that has collectively grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide. The first film, released back in 1993, was based on the novel by the late Michael Crichton, and will be re-released in 3D on 19 July 2013.
Spielberg won’t direct the fourth chapter, but he will produce it with Kathleen Kennedy.
While it is surprising that it has been over a decade since the last Jurassic Park film, we still question whether or not another film is needed in this series. The quality of the films sharply declined after the first one, which was undoubtedly groundbreaking in its use of CG special effects.
