It’s time to run-run-run, jump-jump-jump, stab-stab-stab with Michael Fassbender. Variety announces that Fassbender will officially be coming on board as star and producer of the video game adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.
Fassbender will presumably play Desmond Miles, a seemingly regular guy captured by a shadowy organisation who uses a device to make Miles live out past lives as an assassin. In the first game, the assassin is running about in the Crusades.
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
The various games have sold over 30 million units to date. Given that the games have been very cinematic to date, they clearly lend themselves to the big screen. Of course, the story will have to be greatly expanded for it to be engaging for wider audiences.
