Back in May, it was reported that Mads Mikkelsen was in talks to play an unspecified villain role in Marvel Studios and Disney’s Thor 2. Now Zoomin Movies (via CS) reports that scheduling conflicts have prevented this from happening.
Mikkelsen was hired to play the lead character of Hannibal Lecter in NBC’s Hannibal, based on the Thomas Harris novels that inspired Manhunter (1986), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hannibal (2001), Red Dragon (2002) and Hannibal Rising (2006). His commitments to that character, who he also talks about in length below, have prevented the union of Mikkelsen and Marvel Studios for now.
Thor 2 is expected to begin shooting in August, and Marvel will be expected to make a replacement announcement between now and then. It is due to hit cinemas on 15 November 2013 from Disney
