At the Iron Man 3 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios revealed that the long-rumoured Guardians of the Galaxy film would be go for launch as the 1 August 2014 release from Disney.
From the concept art (below), the line-up has been revealed to be Star-Lord, Draxx the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Gamorra.
This move has been long-rumoured, especially after the appearance of (SPOILERS!) Thanos during the end-credits of The Avengers.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Yet I assumed that they would be using the newer incarnation for the films. Still, this is a major tentpole for the Marvel Studios, and looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
