Amanda Plummer cast as Wiress in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Catching Fire - Suzanne CollinsLionsgate has announced that Amanda Plummer has been cast in the Wiress in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire.

Plummer is arguably best known for her roles in Pulp Fiction (she loves you, Pumpkin) and The Fisher King, along with being Tony Award® winning stage actress on and off Broadway. She will next be seen playing the title role in Abigail Harms.

Synopsis – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire  begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in Australia in November 2013.
