The Huffington Post has unleashed the first trailer for New Zealand-born Australian director Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly. Formerly known as Cogan’s Trade, it re-teams The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford helmer with his star Brad Pitt.
Debuting at Cannes this year, it is adapted from George V. Higgins novel and set in New Orleans. It follows professional enforcer, Jackie Cogan (Pitt), who investigates a heist that occurs during a high stakes, mob-protected, poker game. The film also features Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins, with James Gandolfini, Vincent Curatola, Max Casella and Sam Shepard.
Killing Them Softly is released in Australia on 20 September 2012 from Hoyts Distribution.
