After learning of the sad passing of director Tony Scott, we wanted to show our shared love of the man’s work and the poster form. So what more fitting way than a showcase of the posters from all of Scott’s films from The Hunger (1983) through to Unstoppable (2010).
The changing styles of the posters are indicative of the changing trends in cinema, but the Scott name and several of his collaborators – particularly Denzel Washington – remained constant throughout. Following Enemy of the State (1998), the ‘split-screen’ one-sheet became common, appearing on five of the seven remaining posters of his career. It was not simple repetition, but a filmmaker with a singular action voice signing his name across the publicity.
