Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth installment of the wildly successful film franchise that has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide to date. Following on from the events of Resident Evil: Afterlife, Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns to fight the evil Umbrella Corporation, who still seem intent on doing things in the shadows despite destroying most of the world’s population by now. You just can’t keep a good corporation down.
Sony has sent over this very handy clip that showcases Alice’s battle against the Umbrella Corporation, from the first Resident Evil to the latest installment that is due out in Australian cinemas next week. It’s an economical way of catching up on the first four films, and let’s face it: at least two of them are the walking dead. It’s amazing that it can be done in under five minutes! Even so, we are strangely looking forward to seeing Milla strap the latex back on and do impossible things with guns.
In this latest entry, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
Resident Evil: Retribution is released in Australia on 13 September 2012 from Sony.
