Icon Film Distribution together with Jupiters Hotel & Casino have announced the Australian Premiere of Dredd 3D will be held in Jupiters Theatre at the Gold Coast on Monday 15 October 2012. Judge Dredd himself, Karl Urban, will be in attendance to walk the red carpet at the newly redeveloped
The new $20 million redevelopment to Jupiters Theatre has already hosted film premieres, and recently launched the venue’s 3D cinema capabilities. Arrivals will begin from 6:45pm on the day.
Alex Garland and director Pete Travis bring the world of Dredd to life from the long-running British science fiction anthology 2000 AD, as it takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, where Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of the elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot. The film also stars Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby.
Dredd recently opened at Number 1 at the UK Box Office earlier this month, and will be released in Australian cinemas by Icon Film Distribution on October 25, 2012. There will also be a Popcorn Taxi screening on 16 October 2012 in Sydney for those of you not game to make it up to the Gold Coast.
