The Weinstein Company (via Yahoo! Movies) has released a first look at the new animated film Escape From Planet Earth. Featuring the voice talents of Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, Jessica Alba, James Gandolfini and Sarah Jessica Parker, it looks like a bit of a reverse of Planet 51, itself a parody of the alien invasion films of the 1950s. It is the theatrical debut of director Cal Brunker, who previously did the TV movie Ninjamaica (2009) and was a storyboard artist on Despicable Me (2010) amongst other films.

Now we could be wrong, but was there one or two reference to convenience store chain 7-11 in there? Following the unfortunate trend of heavy product placement in family films, it seems to be a fun and kinetic adventures that we nevertheless look forward to seeing when it hits cinemas in the US on 14 February 2013.
