The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (via Coming Soon) has released the names of the 10 films officially moving ahead for consideration in the 85th Academy Awards. 56 pictures originally qualified in the category.
Some of the nominees will be very familiar names, including Katsuhiro Otomo of Akira fame, David Silverman’s Maggie Simpson in “The Longest Daycare and Disney’s Paperman, which has recently hit cinemas with Wreck-It Ralph. This is always a category to watch closely, as today’s short film winners are tomorrow’s feature film makers.
The Oscar nominations will be announced on Thursday 10 January 2013. The 85th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on “Oscar Sunday”, or 24 February 2013 to the rest of the world. That will be the 25 February 2013 here in Australia. They will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane.
