The full trailer for the live action remake of PETE’S DRAGON has arrived from Disney, and it definitely has a different tone to the 1977 original. It arrives on 12 August 2016 for US viewers, and then in Australian cinemas on 15 September 2016 from Disney.
Eschewing the musical numbers of the live action/animated mix of the original, this new trailer follows Pete (Oakes Fegley), a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. From Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon that old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has been telling stories about for years. Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), the forest ranger daughter of Meacham, is aided by Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, in finding out where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
The film stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Oscar® winner Robert Redford. The film, which is directed by David Lower, is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field.
