Last month, it was reported that Superman would be joining the cast of SUPERGIRL when it moves to the CW later this year for its second season. Now DC Entertainment and the network have given us our first look at actor Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf, Everybody Wants Some!!) in the full Superman costume alongside Melissa Benoist.
DC Entertainment TV shows have previously been seemingly verboten from using the big guns on screen, resulting in prequel series like Gotham or de facto Batman scenarios in Arrow. In the first season of SUPERGIRL, the titular character (played by Melissa Benoist) usually encountered her cousin in silhouette, obscured from a distance, or in the case of a particularly on-the-nose cameo, by only showing his super feet in the shot. A young version of Kal-El appeared in “For the Girl Who Has Everything.” Of course, former Superman Dean Cain appears as Kara’s adoptive father throughout the series as well, leaving a big question as to who will fill the shiny red boots for the TV show.
SUPERGIRL will debut on the CW on Monday 10 October 2016 on CW in the US, and on the Tuesday evening on Fox8 in Australia.
