It’s been a busy weekend of superhero news, and with several debuts and returns to the small screen this week, the rumours and news nuggets are flying thick and fast. We have a possible title for the next solo Batman film, the heroes of the CW go head-to-head in a steel-cage death match and the new Spider-Man film wraps production. The week has only just begun!
The Batman
Speaking with AP on the press junket for his new film The Accountant, star Ben ‘Batfleck’ Affleck has revealed what might just end up being the title of the next solo Batman film. For long time fans of the character
While we personally favour The Goddamn Batman as a title, there’s definite history with THE BATMAN as a title. After all, it was the name given to him in the first appearance in Detective Comics #27 back in 1939, as well as the name of an animated series that ran from 2004 to 2008. THE BATMAN is said to be directed by Affleck, co-starring Jeremy Irons (Alfred) and J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), and written by Geoff Johns and Affleck.
Superhero Fight Club 2.0
Last year the CW released a video called the Superhero Fight Club, pitching all of their flagship character against each other in a fun brawl. With Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) now joining the network, she gets her official initiation into the club. First and second rules say we can’t talk about it. We will say this: BAD MONKEY!
Spider-Man: Homecoming wraps production
Both actor Tom Holland and diretcor Jon Watts have posted (via Instagram) confirmation that the Marvel Studios/Sony collaboration, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, has wrapped principal photography. Check out the photo and video below, with a little musical Easter egg on the latter.
