Australia and New Zealand will be the first territories treated to Emmy Winner Matt Drummond’s latest family film, MY PET DINOSAUR, with the film confirmed for a countrywide release in Hoyts cinemas through Pinnacle Films from 25 April. The announcement was made by sales agent Empress Road Pictures today in Berlin..
In the film, a boy finds the remnants of a failed military experiment and his troubled town is plunged further into chaos as he accidentally makes a new friend. (Spoilers: it’s the dinosaur).
This is the second feature for Drummond, renowned for his work as an Emmy Award winning Visual Effects Supervisor. His previous film Dinosaur Island (2014), was nominated for a 2015 AEAF Award for Feature Film Animation. The cast includes Jordan Dulieu, Annabel Wolfe, Christopher Gabardi and Tiriel Mora (Farscape).
The Australian film looks like a cross between E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Pete’s Dragon and Stranger Things, and this Amblin-inspired high-concept adventure is definitely a new direction for the local scene. Check out the trailer (above) and poster (below), which not only have some terrific special effect, but they just look fun.
