It’s been a little quiet on the INHUMANS front for a while, but IMAX in the US has officially confirmed that 1 September 2017 will be the cinematic launch date for the premiere of the new ABC series. The 8-episode series will follow in the US Fall. No Australian release date has been confirmed as yet, which is unsurprising given the inconsistent treatment Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has received here over the years.
Unlike the current Inhumans seen on the aforementioned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., this group will retrn viewers to the classic royal family line-up from the comics. The cast for the series includes Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton, Sonya Balmores as Auran, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal,, and Ellen Woglom.
The group was first introduced in 1965 in the pages of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s Fantastic Four, and have since formed a large tentpole for the Marvel Cosmic Universe that includes the Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity War. It is said that this series is neither a reworking of the planned film from Marvel Studios, nor a spin-off of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
