Australia’s Oscar-nominated LION will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital by Transmission in May. It comes to home formats in the recently released Extended Edition, containing an additional 8 minutes of footage.
The Australian Extended Edition includes over 4 hours of special features – commentary by Saroo and Sue Brierley and the director, Garth Davis and five featurettes: From Page to Screen; Finding Home – Garth Davis & the Making of Lion; A Pride of Lions – Casting the Film; Dev Patel is Saroo Brierley and Saroo’s Story.
The most successful local release of the year, and the fifth highest grossing Australian film of all time at the local box office, it has taken $29,311,59 since its release in January. It continues its run in cinemas around the world. Just last week, Davis was nominated for The Australian Director’s Guild (ADG) awards for Best Direction in a Feature Film.
The Australian co-production, from director Davis and screenwriter Luke Davies, tells the true story of a young Indian boy who is separated from his family when he mistakenly falls asleep on a train while waiting for his brother. Little does he know that he’s actually travelled over 1500km away from his village. Decades later, new technology allows an adult Saroo (Dev Patel) to start searching for the location of his lost home.
LION will be available to buy on Digital April 19 and to buy or rent on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital May 3, 2017.
