Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment (via director James Wan on Twitter) has revealed the first photo of Amber Heard as Mera in the upcoming AQUAMAN film.
Based on the character created by Jack Miller and artist Nick Cardy, Mera first appeared in the pages of Aquaman #11 in 1963, and she ultimately rules Atlantis alongside Aquaman. She has also been confirmed to appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film. The costume in this photo, distinct from the armoured one spotted online earlier, is very much in keeping with the modern comics version.
The film will see also Jason Momoa reprise his role as Aquaman from the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League films. Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe and Temuera Morrison will also star.
AQUAMAN will be released on 21 December 2018 in the US from Warner, and on 26 December 2018 in Australia from Roadshow Films.
