So much news, so little time. Lots of superhero news got released today while we were off doing exciting things, so here’s the TL;DR version. We got a first look at Zazie Beetz as Domino in DEADPOOL 2, actor J.R. Ramirez has joined Marvel’s JESSICA JONES Season 2, Hartley Sawyer will appear in THE FLASH as the Elongated Man, and Netflix will launch a STRETCH ARMSTRONG series.
Kicking things off is the first photo of Zazie Beetz as Domino, a mutant who can manipulate luck. The promotional material was very simply, mimicking the original announcement photo featuring Reynolds, who is now a Deadpool skin rug for the new character.
While we wait for The Defenders later this month, the second season of JESSICA JONES gets a little larger with the addition of J.R. Ramirez as Oscar, a devote father who moves into Jessica’s building as the new superintendent. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Ramirez has previously appeared on comic book adaptations Arrow (as Ted Grant/Wildcat, pictured below) and on the series Power.
Speaking of the Arrowverse, THE FLASH returns in October with a bigger cast. The DC Blog announced that Hartley Sawyer has been added to the cast as “Ralph Dibny — a.k.a. The Elongated Man — is a fast-talking private investigator with investigative skills that rival those of Batman. Upon discovering he has the power to stretch his body to any shape or form, Dibny uses his new abilities to help Team Flash solve one of Central City’s greatest mysteries.” The character first appeared back in The Flash #112, and he was a pivotal figure in the controversial Identity Crisis mini-series. Looking at his photos, we can’t possibly image what qualities would make him suitable for a CW drama?
Finally, and still on the stretchy dude theme, Netflix and Hasbro are joining forces for STRETCH ARMSTRONG & THE FLEX FIGHTERS. According to their site: “Jake Armstrong and his best friends are unexpectedly transformed into superheroes who learn to reach far beyond the limits of any ordinary teenager.”
