The DEADPOOL 2 marketing campaign has been impeccable so far. A new trailer for the film, which releases in Australian cinemas on 16 May 2018, is as raunchy as you’d expect and filled with self-referential gags and a fourth-wall breaking series of quips.
“Pump the hate breaks, Thanos,” quips Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) at one point, referencing Josh Brolin’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Later he comments on the dark aggression of the character. “So dark – are you sure you’re not from the DC Universe?” asks the Merc with a Mouth. We also get several nods to the cinematic formation of teams, a showcase for the powers of Julian Dennison’s character, and the introduction of Peter. He just found them on LinkedIn.
20th Century Fox Australia has also announced that Dennision will visit Sydney for a press tour promoting DEADPOOL 2. The breakout star of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, the highest-grossing picture in New Zealand film history, Julian Dennison plays a young orphan with a temper who Deadpool takes under his wing.
Directed by David Leitch the film also stars Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy.
