Damon Lindelof’s ‘Watchmen’ series receives HBO series order

Watchmen

It’s the series that refuses to whisper ‘No.’ Damon Lindelof’s ‘remix’ of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ WATCHMEN has received a full series order at HBO.

Lindelof’s version of the classic graphic novel, according to an open letter to fans, he intends to ‘remix’ existing and new characters into Moore’s universe, expanding on the original story rather than doing another straight adaptation like Zack Snyder’s 2009 film.

He certainly has a lot of material to draw upon. The contentious Before Watchmen comic book series added a number of new pieces of backstory to each of the classic characters, while this year’s Doomsday Clock comics has crossed over the Watchmen universe with the DC Universe.

The announced cast so far is Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Louis Gossett Jr.

Scheduled for a 2019 release, it is good time for the cable network. With Game of Thrones set to wrap up next year, they will be looking for a new franchise to fill the void. Here’s hoping audiences will be watching the Watchmen in as many numbers.
