DC Comics made an exciting announcement this morning for fans of their CW TV series: Superman is returning to our small screens. In a tweet from the official DC Comics account, the publisher confirmed the appearance of the character, with Tyler Hoechlin reprising his role, potentially making this the biggest DC crossover to date.
The tweet, embedded below, had another surprise for fans as well. In addition to actor Hoechlin returning to The CW as Superman, they added that “he’ll be joined by none other than … LOIS LANE!” Casting for the other half of this power couple is yet to be announced.
The crossover will start with The Flash on Sunday 9 December in the US. Arrow will continue the story on Monday 10 December, before it wraps up in Supergirl on 11 December 2018 on the CW. Fox8 will screen this in Australia, so add a day onto each of those to accommodate the time difference.
We already know that Batwoman will be joining the fray. The role of the caped crusader has gone to Ruby Rose, although DC has confirmed that Batman will not make an appearance in this season. Legends of Tomorrow will also be sitting on the sidelines for this particular crossover apparently.
Hoechlin first appeared in the Supergirl Season 2 opener, a performance that we declared was “a charmer, nailing both the mild-mannered Kent and super-casually stepping into the role of the Kryptonian.”
