One of the most unique and engaging film festivals in the world is returning for another year. The New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) has announced its slate of over 60 films screening in hybrid mode this August.
Following the current trend of running a festival both face-to-face and online, it’s arranged in special categories this year rather than by their country of origin. From Raymond Lee’s classic 1992 Dragon Inn, there’s genre twisters like The Fable: The Killer Who Doesn’t Kill (the sequel to 2019’s The Fable), Soi Cheang’s stylish and gritty Limbo (which we saw at Berlinale this year), Taiwan’s The Silent Forest and Last of the Wolves, Kazuya Shiraishi’s sequel to the acclaimed The Blood of Wolves.
The New York Asian Film Festival is co-presented by the New York Asian Film Foundation and Film at Lincoln Center, and takes place from 6 – 22 August 2021 at FLC’s Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street) and in the FLC Virtual Cinema, and from 9 – 22 Augustat SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street).
More films are yet to be announced, including the opening and closing films. You can find more on the official NYAFF website and all of our past and future coverage right here.
