KOFFIA 2025: Korean Film Festival returns in August

Hear Me: Our Summer, opening film of the Korean Film Festival in Australia 2025.

The Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) returns 21–26 August 2025, bringing ten Australian premiere films to Event Cinemas George Street in Sydney before touring six regional cities with free screenings.

Opening the festival is Hear Me: Our Summer, a romantic drama starring HONG Kyung, ROH Yoon-seo and former IZ*ONE idol KIM Minju in her feature debut. A remake of the Taiwanese hit Hear Me, it follows a delivery worker who falls for a deaf swimmer, their worlds connecting through Korean Sign Language.

Sydney audiences will also see Hidden Face, a mystery-thriller with Parasite star CHO Yeo-jeong, the modern gothic Frankenstein Father, romance The Daechi Scandal, crime thriller Dirty Money, time-bending fantasy Secret: Untold Melody with DOH Kyung-soo (EXO), and a 4K restoration of Shiri, the CHOI Min-shik starring spy thriller that arguably launched the Korean Wave.

After Sydney, KOFFIA expands its Touring Program, offering free screenings of Hear Me: Our Summer, the heartwarming About Family, the playful Forbidden Fairytale, and the laugh-out-loud mystery The Noisy Mansion in Benalla, Toowoomba, Parramatta, Alice Springs, Victor Harbor, and Whitsunday.

Festival guests including directors JO Seon-ho, KIM Dae-woo, YANG Woo-seok, LEE Lu-da and actor GYEONG Su-jin will attend Sydney screenings for exclusive post-film Q&As.

“This year’s program is one of our most diverse and exciting yet,” says Programmer Francis Lee, “from the heartwarming to the hilarious, the thrilling to the tender.”
