New poster for We Need to Talk About Kevin

Hopscotch Films have unveiled a new Australian poster for We Need to Talk About Kevin, featuring its star Tilda Swinton.

Synopsis: An exquisitely realized adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s bestselling novel, We Need To Talk About Kevin, the film was a critics and audience favourite following its competition screenings at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Tilda Swinton turns in a stunning and breathtakingly fragile performance as Eva, a concerned mother with a troubled, angry son – Kevin. Eva is a haunted middle-aged woman trying to grapple with her own feelings towards her son as he grows up to be a brooding teenager, and his unthinkable actions will shatter her life. What was her role in it? Did she resent her son since birth? What could she have done to help him? We Need To Talk Kevin is directed by visionary filmmaker Lynne Ramsay (Morvern Callar, Ratcatcher), who constructs a mesmerizing, intimate piece of cinema.

Hopscotch adds that they will announce the official Australian release date shortly.

New poster for Puss in Boots

Our good friends at Paramount have sent us over a new poster for Puss in Boots. It comes on the back of a successful set of viral videos that saw our favourite feline become the Most Interesting Cat in the World.

Way before he ever met Shrek, the legendary Puss In Boots goes on a heroic journey, teaming up with mastermind Humpty Dumpty and the street-savvy Kitty Softpaws to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs. It’s the adventure of nine lifetimes!

Puss in Boots supports the Rugby World Cup

Not only is he the Most Interesting Cat in the World, Puss in Boots has traded his swashbuckling boots for a pair of footy boots! Puss is supporting the Rugby World Cup.

Paramount and Way to Blue have sent us a new promotional image from the forthcoming DreamWorks film Puss in Boots, showing the titular kitty wearing a pair of footy boots in support of the Rugby World Cup, on now until the 23 October.

Puss in Boots is released in Australia on 8 December 2011 from Paramount.

New Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol Poster

Paramount has released a new poster for Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and it’s all about Tom Cruise. What. A. Shock.

Back in August, Paramount unveiled a publicity photo from the film, which prompted us to ask why Cruise was wearing a hoodie, and what could he be thinking about to make him oblivious to the explosion behind him. This new poster seems to have taken elements of that image, complete with Cruise’s steely and determined gaze, thrown in some digital coding that has worked so well on the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy poster campaign and slapped on the familiar lit fuse that is such an icon of the series.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is due for release in Australia on 15 December 2011 from Paramount.

Two new posters for Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1

Yahoo! Movies has unveiled two brand new posters for the forthcoming sequel The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. They are respectively steamy and smoldery.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is the first part of the last chapter in the epic vampire saga that has launched a thousand fan sites. One of the most anticipated elements of this next film is the much talked about “wedding” sequence, which we have already seen glimpses of from the teaser trailer so far.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is released in Australia on 17 November 2011 from Hoyts Distribution.

New Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy poster

We’ve posted every single poster to date, so why stop now, really?

Using the same digital coding imagery as the first poster of Gary Oldman, and thesubsequent batch with Colin Firth and Tom Hardy, not to mention the ones with Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong, we kind of get the idea now. Regardless, this is probably one of the best poster campaigns of the year.

The film is based on the John Le Carre novel of the same name, last filmed in 1979 as a TV mini-series with Alec Guinness. Set during the height of this Cold War, Gary Oldman will take on the role of George Smiley, who comes out of semi-retirement to hunt down a Russian agent.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is released on 17 November 2011 in Australia from Universal.

The Rum Diary: New poster

Hot on the heels of the recently released trailer, a new poster has been released from the Johnny Depp vehicle The Rum Diary.

It follows the story of journalist Paul Kemp (Depp) who kinds himself down on his luck and working for a newspaper in the Caribbean. The film is directed by Bruce Robinson of Withnail & I fame.

New standee poster for The Adventures of Tintin

Paramount has sent over the latest epic widescreen standee art for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present The Adventures of Tintin directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Defiance) as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Defiance) as the nefarious Red Rackham.

Can we just say, does it get any more awesome than this?

First image and poster from Jason Reitman’s Young Adult

Lovers of Hello Kitty, Jason Reitman, Diablo Cody and Charlize Theron rejoice! The first poster and image from Reitman’s forthcoming film Young Adult has hit the Interweb waves from Paramount.

The poster and image are profoundly hip and kitsch and stuff. Unfortunately, this will still be written by Diablo Cody. As such, expect some painfully self-conscious dialogue and an unwavering belief that a 33-year-old ex-stripper has a secret window into the mind of today’s youth.

Synopsis: Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.

Young Adult reunites Jason Reitman, Academy Award© nominated director of “Juno,” and Academy Award© winning screenwriter, Diablo Cody.

New poster for Burning Man

Transmission have unveiled a new poster for the forthcoming Australian film Burning Man.

Burning Man is the reckless, sexy, funny, moving and ultimately life-affirming story of Tom, a British chef in a Bondi restaurant, who seems to have decided there are no longer any rules he needs to obey. Whatever Tom is up to, his actions seem to be tolerated by those around him. As Tom descends into darkness, fragments of a different story begin to emerge. All the women in his world are trying in their own, very different ways to help put him back together.

Written and directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (Better Than Sex, Gettin’ Sqaure), it stars Matthew Goode, Bojana Novakovic, Essie Davis, Kerry Fox and Rachel Griffiths.

Burning Man will be released in Australia on 27 October 2011 from Transmission.
