  • First magical trailer for Disney•Pixar’s ‘Coco’ arrives

First magical trailer for Disney•Pixar’s ‘Coco’ arrives

Following much anticipation, the first teaser trailer for Disney•Pixar’s next animated film COCO has arrived. Directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), and co-directed by Adrian Molina, it hits US cinemas on 22 November 2017. It is expected to hit Australian shores in December.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Followers of the film’s production will no that it has not been without controversy. Originally titled Dia de los Meurtos, Disney came under fire from cultural groups when it tried to trademark the name of the largely Mexican holiday. The trailer shows Unkrich’s “love letter to Mexico,” wisely taking on-board vocal opponent Lalo Alcaraz as a cultural consultant.

Before COCO hits cinemas, Pixar will have Cars 3 as their summer flagship. However, it’s important to note that COCO represents Pixar’s first non-sequel since 2015’s underwhelming The Good Dinosaur,  and we won’t see another non-sequel until at least 2020.

Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), the forest ranger daughter of Meacham, is aided by Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, in finding out where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

Fox and Blue Sky (via Jabadan) have released the trailer for Fern Gully 2 Epic, the latest creation from the studio behind the Ice Age and Rio franchises. From the creators of Ice Age and Rio, Epic tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. Arrow castCW has released its fall schedule and Arrow is at the top of our lists of ones to watch. Now the CW has released an official teaser clip from the show, due to screen on Wednesdays when the fall season returns. (NB: A full trailer has now been released for the show).

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

This shows a Green Arrow very early in his career, defending the city against tennis balls. It may not be the Green Arrow that long-time fans were hoping for, sharing more in common with the The New 52 run than earlier issues. However, many liberties have been taken with the relationships according to the synopsis, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
