  • New Kids Featurette for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace

New Kids Featurette for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace 3D poster - PodracerLucasFilm has released a new trailer for the 3D re-release of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, due out in cinemas next week. This time the focus is on making Star Wars accessible for kids. If we are honest with ourselves, this was the intended audience all along, especially for the first chapter in the prequels, and most of us were probably still in short pants when we saw the original films in theatres.

It also gives younger audiences, probably only familiar with the series from the animated Clone Wars, an idea of what they are getting themselves into if they aren’t old enough to have seen these all before. Lucky bastards! Run! Run while you still can! This was lies Jar Jar! We’ll find you a copy of A New Hope (or as us old folk know it, Star Wars) and get you started right.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D is released on 9 February 2012 in Australia from Fox.

  • Watch Extended Ferris Bueller Super Bowl Commercial Online!

Watch Extended Ferris Bueller Super Bowl Commercial Online!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off posterLast week we reported that Honda would be releasing a new commercial starring Matthew Broderick reprising his Ferris Bueller role in a Super Bowl spot by The Hangover director Todd Phillips. Now Honda has released that full video.

In the 2:20 version of the commercial, Broderick plays himself deciding to take a day off work. He then lives out a series of Bueller-style adventures, many of wich recreate scenes from the original film. The ad is for the 2012 Honda CR-V’s “Leap List” campaign, which encourages people to go through their bucket lists. Very much in the spirit of the original film.

We wonder how Ferris would feel about this little bit of corporate shillery? He’d probably just encourage us to go with it, and enjoy ourselves in the process. Now, off to watch that original classic film…

  • Ferris Bueller Returns for Super Bowl Commercial?

Ferris Bueller Returns for Super Bowl Commercial?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off posterWe love all things 80s, as our weekly column 80s Bits will attest to, so the return of Ferris Beuller in any form gives us mixed feelings. However, rather than a full-blown sequel, the return may come in a more commercial package.

A source posting as chuckachucka2012 on YouTube has posted the following video along with this short tease of a message: “We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to. Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a “day off” on Monday and catch the big reveal”.

The video teases an aged Bueller ready to take another day off, but we know this is for a commercial. Who could it possibly be, and what would Ferris think about being used as a tool of corporate America? Guess we’ll find out on 5 February.

UPDATE: Jalopnik reports that the ad will be for Honda and directed by none other than  The Hangover director Todd Phillips. According to the source the spot is “to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas. The big jump the two valets do in Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari? We hear this time it’s going to be a Honda CR-V”.

  • Behind the Scenes Video with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Behind the Scenes Video with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance posterFirst Look Online has posted a (strangely enough) first look at some behind the scenes footage from Ghost Rider sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Nicolas Cage reprises his role as Johnny Blaze in this gritty new vision directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank). Neveldine-Taylor prove themselves to be just crazy enough to make this thing work in this behind the scenes video, actually suspending themselves from giant wires and dangling over dangerous precipices to get the shots they need for the film. Bless you all, sirs.

Johnny is still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – but he may risk everything as he teams up with the leader of a group of rebel monks (Idris Elba) to save a young boy from the devil… and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is released in Australia on 15 March 2012, and in the US on 17 February 2012.
