New ‘X-Men: First Class’ clips and Japanese TV spot

X-Men: First Class - Charles Poster (Australia)We are just over a week away from the release of one of the most highly anticipated blockbusters of the year and Fox has released two brand new clips from X-Men: First Class. Fair warning though: there be spoilers ahead.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time.

First up is a clip called ‘Magic Trick’, in which Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Dr. Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) make an impassioned plea to US government officials, before Raven Darkholme (Jennifer Lawrence) aka Mystique makes a rather convincing demonstration of Xavier’s point.

The second of these clips, dubbed ‘Meeting Hank’, shows the first encounter between Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult) aka Beast and Charles Xavier and his growing band of X-Men. In this clip, Hank is ‘outed’ as a mutant. This is obviously before he goes all blue and furry.

Last, but not least, is a Japanese TV spot that very briefly shows the conflict between Erik and Charles. Something to look forward too indeed!

X-Men: First Class is released in Australia on 2 June 2011 by Fox.
