A big day of news at the D23 Expo as Disney-Pixar announced details on two forthcoming feature films.
The first of these, presented cheekily as The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs, proposes that the evolution-changing asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs actually missed the Earth, and dinosaurs still exist and continue to evolve. Directed by Bob Peterson (Up), the film is due for a release in the holiday season of 2013.
The summer 2014 film, using the working title of The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind, was thinner on plot details, but it was hinted that Pete Docter (Up, Monsters Inc) would be involved. This is undoubtedly the mystery Pixar film the studio announced for May 30, 2014 in a press release earlier this month.
The next film from the studio will be Brave (22 June 2012), followed by the Monsters Inc. prequel Monsters University (21 June 2013).
Tangled Ever After
In other news, Disney also revealed the poster for the upcoming Tangled Ever After, a short film from Tangled directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard. Plot details were scarce, but the US should see this one on the Disney Channel in “Spring 2012” (Source: /Film). That’s the second quater for those of us in the southern hemisphere.
The D23 Expo runs from 19 to 21 August, and it is expected that news on The Avengers, now owned by Disney as part of their Marvel Comics purchase, will be unveiled.
