For the longest time, Evangelion Q (aka Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0) was in the “we’ll believe it when we see it” category. Even though we caught a slightly longer teaser at the end of Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance, we finally have a taste of footage emerging from the film for wider release. Sort of.

So, things we know for sure: Asuka has an eye patch.
Fifteen years after creator Hideaki Anno and Studio Gainax attempted to put the final word on the giant robot genre, Evangelion is still going. Neon Genesis Evangelion, the television show that turned a generation of viewers onto the wonders of Japanese anime, continues to hold a place in the hearts of many anime viewers. This was only intensified by the release of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, the first of a four-part theatrical ‘rebuild’ of the original series. Where that film essentially retold the events of the early episodes of the TV series, Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance truly takes off on its own tangent. With the spectacular events at the end of 2.0, fans are understandably keen to get stuck into the third film.
Evangelion Q is expected to be released sometime in 2012.
