To celebrate the 162nd anniversary of Edgar Allen Poe’s death, Relativity Media (via iTunes Trailers) has released the trailer for the Poe inspired thriller The Raven.
In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).
We absolutely adore the works of Edgar Allen Poe, carrying us through our troubled teen years and into a more macabre adulthood. A chance to see some of his nightmarish visions brought to life is thrilling, although this one seems to be following in the steps of Roland Emmerich’s forthcoming Anonymous in the liberties being taken with the author’s works and life.
The Raven does not currently have an Australian release date.
